VPG Bulletin
January 2021

The entire team wishes you a great 2021. May it be a year marked by health, success, happiness…and freedom! We truly hope that soon we will once again be able to get out and about, travel, and get together with loved ones.

For now, we invite you to contribute as much as possible to your RRSP and TFSA. The deadline to contribute to your RRSP for the 2020 tax year is Monday, March 1, 2021. The contribution limit for 2020 is the lesser of the following two amounts: $27,230 or 18% of earned income in 2019. Your contribution room also depends on other factors. The amount of your contribution room is listed on your notice of assessment from the Canada Revenue Agency.

With regard to TFSAs, there is no deadline to contribute, but the sooner the better in order for your savings to grow tax-free. The TFSA annual maximum contribution has been maintained at $6,000 for 2021.

You can find detailed tables outlining the annual limits for the different types of savings and retirement plans by clicking here.

Until next time!
