January 2026
Hello everyone,
The arrival of a new year is a wonderful opportunity to make wishes that fuel both our aspirations and our ambitions.
We've drawn a line under 2025, but some things may have escaped your attention, such as
National Geographic's best photos or the words of the year, chosen based on current events.
Finally, we can't wrap up 2025 without mentioning
the most listened-to songs of last year… Here's a little hint to get you started: this 40-year-old American achieved a double victory, winning first and second place on this prestigious chart!
Our quarterly reviews
For our part, we are starting 2026 with a bang; the holidays did us a world of good.
We have just completed our quarterly reviews, available in
English or in
French. A little something new: AI helped Hossein with his French!
There were many shocks, particularly due to the tariff announcements made by President Donald Trump. Once the surprise had passed, the markets and businesses adapted to the new reality imposed by the occupant of the White House.
Despite everything, the year ended on a positive note. Several sectors/countries/industries pulled their weight.
Japan closed higher for the third consecutive year, Europe benefited from the spillover effects of its military spending, and the software sector remained strong despite a difficult start to the year.
Finally, we explain which sectors we are avoiding and why.
We have a surprise in store for you at the end of our reviews... Stay tuned and you will be pleased with the results of our discretionary management and the added value for our investors.
Happy New Year 2026, dear clients!
P.S. The start of the year means RRSP and TFSA contributions. Here are the limits for 2026: $33,810 for RRSPs, $7,000 for TFSAs, and $16,000 for FHSAs if you haven't contributed yet. The deadline to contribute to your RRSP is March 2 this year.
